Blood donor clinic reaches new heights

On behalf of Canadian Blood Services, I would like to thank all those who came out to donate blood on Monday June 5th at the Erin Legion Hall.   I am so happy to report that we achieved record attendance and collections.  98 potential donors attended the clinic and in the end, 84 precious units of blood were collected – the best result we have seen from the Erin community in many years.

I personally met many first time donors who came out as a show of support for Damion, a local boy currently battling leukemia.  What a tremendous show of community spirit to support the family in this way.

Unfortunately, the extra donors resulted in longer wait times than normal.  I thank you so much for your patience as we waded through the crowd. Those 84 units of blood are enough to help 10 leukemia patients, like Damion, through treatments for one week.  Well done Erin!

I encourage everyone to find out if they are eligible and make the step towards saving a life. We’re back in Erin on the Civic Holiday Monday, August 7th from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Thank you for giving the gift of life!
