Dear Editor:
I am writing to you about the article that was published in the September 16, 2016 issue of the Wellington Advertiser. This article is about the government saying in their 2016 Budget they have set aside $75 million dollars over the next 3 years. This money will be used to help the community have more access to community based palliative and end-of-life care. The increased funding for existing hospice beds will help ensure that the hospices remain in the community for future generations.
I think that it is amazing that the government is willing to invest more money into end of life and palliative care. Even though the provincial government is trying to push assisted suicide which I disagree with, they are also trying to help those who are dying. It is great that this $75 million is part of the budget. I agree with Liz Sandals that it will help the family of those dying, that they know that there loved one is comfortable until they die.
It is amazing to see that the government is still respecting life at such an old age.
