My car is filthy.
Yes, that is right, my car is filthy, and my garage siding needs washed.  These jobs have not been done as I am a resident of Minto, and as such I am not doing any non essential water chores as per the direction of the Town that Well 2 is down for maintenance.  There was a notice in the paper about a month ago asking residents of Minto to not use any non essential water while the well was being repaired.  Ok to water the flowers, but keep the big water projects on the list until the well was fixed.  As I sit here typing this letter I can hear a pressure washer - that has been running for over an hour.  I have seen town folk washing cars, spraying patio furniture, decks, sidewalks, and doing all kinds of non essential chores.  So, we wondered if the ban had been lifted.  I called the Town office this week to see about that, and I was told no, the ban was still in effect.  No worries I said, we just wanted to wash the car.  "Oh" says the Town employee "Harriston has a car wash, you can just take the car up there and get it cleaned up!"  Um, yes, we could do that, but it would still be non essential use of water in the Town now wouldn't it?!!
So when you travel past our house in Harriston and the garage siding is a bit grungy, and the car is a filthy mess in the driveway, instead of judging us for not cleaning up, you can thank us for doing what we were asked to do - conserve water.
