Dear Editor:

As was noted in the article County ponders plan for expanded rural waste pickup (Jan. 29), the Solid Waste Services Committee and staff are in the early stages of a review of the County's waste and recyclable services.  As part of our Solid Waste Services Strategy study we will be asking for feedback from residents on the waste and diversion programmes provided by the County.

The article states a questionanaire will be sent out to County residents to gauge the level of interest in expanding rural waste and recycling pickup County-wide.  Rather than sending out a survey, the County will be contracting with Oraclepoll Research to conduct a telephone poll on the County's behalf over the coming weeks.  If you happen to be called I would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes of your valuable time to share your thoughts on waste issues, in particular about waste and recycling collection in rural areas.

I appreciate your cooperation as we work to build the most resident-friendly and efficient system to collect and divert waste.  Residents are also welcome to contact me directly as I'm always happy to talk waste.  I can be reached at donmk@wellington.ca or 519-822-2984.

Don McKay,
Solid Waste Services Committee Chair
