The Ventin Group Ltd. (+VG Architects) of Brantford has won the contract to provide architectural services for the renovations and addition to the Victoria Park Senior Centre. Its bid came in at $50,000, excluding HST.
Work includes an evaluation of the existing facility, determination of the appropriateness/procedure for renovating and/or building on to the existing facility, finalizing design based on committee participation, and confirming budget adequacy.
Invitations were sent to six firms and 53 more registered via the township website. Five firms sent in bids.
Councillor Kelly Linton said he recognized the importance of the project, but the township had only budgeted $30,000 for this work – “this proposal is $50,000.” He asked if this meant there would be additional work beyond what the township believed it needed.
Community services managing director Brian Detzler said the bid covered the entire project – “there is nothing out of the ordinary.” He explained the $30,000 budgeted for 2013 was not enough for the work.
“But it is enough to cover the [work] by the end of this year. The remainder of the funds would come in 2014.”
Council approved the bid.
