Another cyclist dies after being struck by a vehicle

MINTO – Two cyclists have died in the span of three days after being struck by vehicles on roads within Wellington County.

The most recent incident took place on Dec. 9 at about 5:30pm.

Emergency crews responded to a collision between two vehicles and a cyclist on Highway 9 near Anna’s Lane, just outside Harriston.

“The cyclist, a 39-year-old male was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased,” stated a press release from the Wellington County OPP.

Highway 9 was closed between Anna’s Lane and Hutchinson Street for several hours.

Two days prior to this incident, a 49-year-old cyclist from Ariss died after being hit by a vehicle on Wellington Road 86 in Guelph/Eramosa Township.
