Annual Insights juried art show winners announced; show runs all summer

Awaken your inner art aficionado and come explore Insights at Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) until Sept. 1.

“Over 60 pieces of art welcome our visitors to a world of sensual exploration,” said curator Susan Dunlop.

“With over 390 submissions to choose from, Insights proves to be one of our most successful shows.”

Prize winners include:

First prize, Insights Award: Sylvia Galbraith, Fergus Labyrinth (chromogenic photograph);

Second prize, Ellen Langlands Memorial Award: Phil Irish, Elora Shatterdark (oil on aluminum);

Third prize, Elora Arts Council Award: Julia Vanderpolder, Hillsburgh Where I Stood Looking Out (oil on canvas);

Viewer’s choice award: Kim Johnston, Kitchener Big Sky (oil on canvas);

Photography Award: Kris Lewis, Fergus Hey (photograph);

Sculpture Award: Jim Reed, East Garafraxa Drag Racing School (mixed media);

Fibre art Award: Karen Cummings, Cambridge Three Spoons (fibre);

Ceramics Award; Jacqueline Tate, Fergus Shino/Strontium Bowl (ceramic);

Painting Award: Norman Busse, Guelph Summer Idyll (acrylic on canvas);

WCMA is located on Wellington Road 18.

The galleries are open weekdays from 9:30am to 4:30pm and 1 to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
