Annual fish fry held in Clifford

CLIFFORD – Ellen Underwood co-ordinated a fish fry for Knox United Church on June 28 at the community hall in Clifford.

Dave Hockley of Blue Mountain Catering and his partner Elaine Desroches cooked over 300 pieces of fish.

Trays of cooked fish were carried to the volunteers responsible to fill the take-out containers to be delivered. Other fish was delivered to the serving table to complete the meal with baked potatoes, corn niblets, buttered carrots, coleslaw, and rolls. The dessert table was filled with an assortment of pie, cheesecake, and carrot cake.

A silent auction offered farm fresh eggs, plants and planters, dish soap sets, bird house, solar lamp, duvet, baby quilt, umbrella, sign, picnic basket, and an hour long airplane ride for three.

This dinner is held annually on Friday of the Canada Day long weekend and coincides nicely with the annual classic truck show held at the Rotary pavilion park.
