Alma Women's Institute members hear about Danube cruise

The first meeting of 2014 for the Alma Women’s Institute was held recently in the Alma community hall.

A travelogue and history presentation was given by Steve and Sandra Eastep, showing the group a riverboat cruise down the Danube in Europe.

President Helen Moffatt opened the meeting with a poem.

Secretary Marg Hall read many thank you notes from the recipients of donations made by the group in December to three local food banks, Girl Guides and the newly refurbished Earland Lee Museum Home at Stoney Creek.

Pat Salter thanked the speakers and invited guests.

A trivia contest on Canada was won by Shirley Fletcher. Plans were made for the February meeting which will be a craft day. Tray favours will be made for Groves hospital patients.

The next meeting was planned for Feb. 20 at 1:30pm at the Alma hall. New members are welcome.
