Ralph Jolley displays a colourful array of wooden farm toys, all hand-carved by the talented Bob Gordon from Belgrave. Despite losing his sight 30 years before his passing, Gordon continued to craft tractors and other farm equipment, relying solely on his extraordinary sense of touch. MAPLETON – The Alma Optimists hosted their annual Toy Show and Sale on March 9 at the Alma Community Centre. Organizers were pleased with the exceptional turnout. Proceeds from the event will be used for various activities sponsored by the organization, such as the swim program, where youth from the area are bused to the Fergus sportsplex pool. The playground tractor, the park gazebo, the ice trail and rink, and T-ball are also funded with proceeds from Optimist events.
