Alma girls complete great ball season
CAMBRIDGE - The Alma Bantam girls had a successful season finishing first in league play, suffering only one loss all season.
That momentum was maintained as the team went undefeated in the Intercounty Softball Championship held this past weekend in Cambridge.
The Alma girls defeated the Arthur Twisters in the championship game 16-4.
The highlight of the game for both teams, officials and spectators was the formation of a dust devil on the diamond so powerful that it tore a sport canopy from the ground at the Alma bench and whirled it 50 feet in the air before finally wrapping itself around a light standard.
Luckily, there were no serious injuries sustained and the girls retained their focus to win the championship.
