All about sewing machines
FERGUS - The Grand Quilt Guild and the Fergus Legion combined forces on May 9 to bring in Jake Van Meppelen Scheppink from St. Thomas to talk about sewing machines. Van Meppelen Scheppink right, has about 250 sewing machines in his collection and he gave an extensive talk about the history of the sewing machine, including the little-known Barclay Sewing Machine Company that operated in Fergus in the 1860s.
The quilting guild is preparing for its quilt show on June 7 and 8 at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
