Aladdin comes to Hillsburgh

The Century Theatre Guild is offering its 13th annual traditional English panto, Aladdin, by Jo Phenix.

The audience will have a chance to be part of the musical comedy as Aladdin, Widow Twanky, Wishee Washee, the genie, princess Jazz, the evil Abanazar and a host of other unexpected characters bring a new twist to the traditional story.

Doug MacDougall is musical director and Lisa Sandlos is choreographer.

Trish Hamilton takes the role of costume designer and the set has been painted by Fiona Armbruster and Gillian Riseborough, with Geri Vanderende as assistant stage-manager.

Director Neville Worsnop has four generations of his family involved in the show.

His son Martyn has worked on the sound design and recording, grandson Michael is stage managing and granddaughter Shyann plays a handmaiden to the princess.

With ages ranging from seven to over 70 the cast of 32 is truly representative of community theatre at its best and promises plenty of great entertainment and fun for all ages, children and grown-ups alike, officials state.

Aladdin runs Nov. 19 to Dec. 3, on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm at Century Church Theatre in Hillsburgh.

Tickets are $13 by calling the box office at 519-855-4586, or $10 with cash from local outlets: Hillsburgh library, Brighten Up in Erin and Blighty’s in Orangeville.
