Aberfoyle Public School reads to succeed

The results of the 2018 Read to Succeed read-a-thon are in.

During February, students read a total of 67,000 minutes and through the generous support of family, friends and the community, they raised a total of $5,570.

Funds will be used toward the purchase of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) resources and improvements to the Library Learning Commons.

Organizers thank major sponsors who donated funds:  Dufferin Aggregates (CRH Canada), St Marys Cement/CBM (Votorantim Cimentos Canada), RLB Group, Tim Hortons Team Aberfoyle, Crunch Fitness, CIBC Wood Gundy and CCL.

Their support allowed organizers to fund the special guests at the kick-off event. The read-a-thon received support from several parent owned businesses which funded the prizes awarded to students including: book fair vouchers to be used at the year-end book fair and a pizza party for the class with the highest participation rate.

Once again, parent council would like to thank the Aberfoyle staff, students, parents and the community for their support of this literacy and fundraising initiative.
