Aberfoyle Fall Fair offers weekend of family fun
ABERFOYLE – The Aberfoyle Fall Fair is coming to Puslinch Township next weekend.
Vinnie Klimkosz, of auto repair business Vinnie’s Mr. Fixit, is a longtime Puslinch resident who’s been on the fair board for 21 years.
But this year marks an increase in responsibility, with Vinnie and his wife Kim serving as president and vice president.
The theme of this year’s Aberfoyle Fall Fair is “It’s Harvest Time,” and officials say the fair fittingly provides a figurative harvest of fun activities for all ages.
Klimkosz said one thing that makes the fair special is its size.
“We’re not an overly huge fair,” Vinnie says. “It’s a nice-size community that attracts families and kids and brings the community together.”
While still another week away, Vinnie pointed out that weather forecasts were calling for sunny days.
Tickets for adults and youth over 13 were initially priced at $15 and have been reduced to $10 to encourage more folks to attend.

Friday, Sept. 11
Friday evening is when the fair officially kicks off, running from 6 to 9pm.
There will be a group of food trucks, among them Optimists, Racky’s Catering, Abbraccio and Heavenly Dreams.
Grand River Inflatables will provide a play zone, with activities including axe throwing and rock climbing.
The Lost Dogs, a group that plays classic rock and country standards, will provide musical entertainment at the centre pavilion.
At 7pm, two further attractions will begin: the antique tractor pull, wherein antique tractors demonstrate how much horsepower they still have by pulling a large sled, and the Marvels and Misfits Show, a sort of modern vaudeville act.
And the gym at the Puslinch Community Centre will host a Glo Stick Dance Party, where people young and old can boogie down, as the event is open to all ages.
Saturday, Sept. 12
Saturday is the primary day of the fair and runs from 10am to 4:30pm.
Among the range of entertainment on offer Saturday is sheep shearing in the horse ring, starting at 10am and continuing throughout the day, where kids and adults alike can learn how these farm animals are shorn.
Cleo the Clown will be wandering the fairgrounds and available to make balloon figures.
The Triple C Petting Zoo, where kids can get up close to baby farm animals, will run from 11am to 3pm in the lower tent.
A pet show highlighting talents from domesticated animals will take place at noon at the baseball diamond.
Musical entertainment will include duo Cynthia & Brien, playing at the gazebo by the playground from 10:30am to noon and again at the Marketplace arena at 2:30pm, and the Nick Vokey Band, which will play at the centre pavilion from 1 to 4pm.
Lastly, the garden tractor and ATV pull, where smaller tractors and ATVs compete at pulling sleds, will conclude the fair at around 3pm.
