800 plus anticipated to take part in Belwood Triathlon this weekend

Roughly 800 athletes are anticipated to take part in this weekend’s Belwood Lake triathlon says organizer Mitch Fraser.

Those athletes will swim, bike, run at Belwood Lake  Conservation Area as it hosts the next event of the World’s Largest Triathlon Series on July 24.

The close to 800 athletes in Sunday’s race are from across Ontario and Quebec.

The event is comprised of two different distance races – the Sprint Triathlon / Duathlon which starts at 8:30am with the Duathlon start at 8:45am, these athletes run the first leg instead of swimming, the race merges together on the bikes.

At 1:15pm the Merrell Try-a-tri will start, this race is a beginner event.
