$50 notes now here
The Bank of Canada has begun circulating the new $50 bill - the second of the polymer bank note series.
It was available in automated banking machines starting on March 26.
The new bill has an image of the Arctic research vessel CCGS Amundsen on the back of the note, first released at Inland Waters in Burlington.
On Nov. 14, the Bank of Canada issued its first polymer bank note - the $100 bill - which celebrates Canadian medical innovation. The $100 and $50 notes were announced last June.
