A recommendation from Minto’s fire and emergency measures committee to include the cost of a new fire pumper truck not to exceed $450,000 be incorporated into the town’s 2011 budget.

Further, it recommended the truck tender be prepared in early 2010 for an anticipated delivery in 2011.

Mayor David Anderson said his understanding is this is part of the department’s overall replacement plan.

“There is money in reserve for this,” he said.

A report from Minto Fire Chief Chris Harrow indicated that he has encountered challenges regarding a radio project and is awaiting the installation of the radios and licences.

Further, he noted that he had eliminated $70,000 from the 2010 capital budget for the fire department and he expressed a continued need to annually transfer funds into the fire department truck reserves.
