4-H: Making Pillowcases

As members arrived to the second meeting of the Mimosa Sewing with Fleece 4-H club, we set-up our sewing machines and selected pieces of fabrics to sew designs on for our warm-up activity.

Once everyone arrived, our presidents opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. If members sewed during the week, we were able to show our creations to the group.

Club leader, June, showed members how to make the perfect pillowcase. We were taught how to measure, put pins in the fabric and borders, and measure lengths of material.

Each member chose a design, cut out the lengths required, ironed out the wrinkles, pinned material together, and then sewed it.

Each member made two pillowcases.  We then talked about possible future projects we could work on.
