4-H Engineering Club holds rocket challenge for members

The sixth meeting of the Mimosa 4-H Engineering Club was held on July 7.

Club president Nadia opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge once all members had arrived.

The press report was then read. New businesses such as our achievement night was discussed.

Some ideas were attending the Wonderland’s 4-H Day or the Elora Raceway building showcase event. Roll call then took place with the question being: name one thing that you enjoyed or learned during this club.

Members then watched a slide on two different types of bottle rockets. Our challenge was to create rockets using baking soda and vinegar, or plain water and air pressure.

Each group chose one of the options, and got to work using, a cork, and different materials to put on their rockets to make it go straight up or more aerodynamic.

We then tested all the rockets, once, and some twice if we had time. These were fun to watch. We then went back inside, and our leaders presented members with cake for our final meeting.

While we ate, we discussed our challenge. President Nadia then closed the meeting with the 4-H motto, and all sugared-up kids went home.
