The 2Rivers Festival is once again hosting a fundraiser for the Wellington Water Watchers on June 13.
For free, guests can come to the Boathouse, 116 Gordon St., Guelph and join in activities intended to honour and celebrate the Speed and the Eramosa.
Festivities begin at 4pm with a traditional welcome and territorial acknowledgement by Jan Sherman and Wiijii Numgumook Kwe. Then join in a circle discussion about the importance of water and rivers. This will be followed by a river beat procession, hosted by Gary Diggins at the same time, the Funga Drummers will be carried in canoes by the Waterloo Wellington Canoe Club who will follow the procession by river meeting up with the procession at the Boathouse dock. The procession will culminate in a crescendo of sound and movement ending in the silent launch of a wreath into the rivers at 6:30pm. The wreath will hold intentions and blessings for the health of the waters.
During this time there will be activities and entertainment for children. Join in a wreath making workshop or be entertained by Andrew the absolutely normal or have your face painted by Makin’ Faces.
Food and drinks will be provided by Laza Catering.
