Organizers are hoping this year’s Fergus Scottish Games will be one for the record books - literally.

Councillor Mary Lloyd spoke briefly to councillors of the upcoming Aug. 9 to 11 event.

“We will be having a Guinness world record attempt on the evening of the tattoo on Aug. 9. We will be attempting to turn 60 cabers over simultaneously. It should be the highest number ever.”

Lloyd said the challenge has been accepted by Guinness and organizers are looking forward to the attempt.
