After a hard fought battle with prostate cancer, Bob passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Sunday February 8th, 2026 at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus. Bob Wilson was the beloved husband of Joan (née Nairn) Wilson, and a loving father to Neil (Christy) Wilson and Jackie (Frank) Major. He was a cherished Poppa to Emma and Malcolm Wilson, and to Sydnee (Johnny), Isaac (Natalie), and Nairn (David) Major. Bob was predeceased by his parents, James and Evelyn Wilson, and by his sister, Shirley (Alvin) Caldwell. He is survived by his brother Joseph (Susan), along with many nieces and nephews. Born on August 3, 1946, Bob grew up on the family farm on the 5th Line of West Garafraxa. After the death of his father in 1966, he continued to farm with his mother. Bob and Joan were married in August of 1970 and lived on the farm until 1987, when they built a home on a section of the farm. Bob called himself a retrained farmer. In 1990 he earned his Red Seal Master Electricians license. He worked for the UGDSB until his retirement in 2014. Bob was involved in Municipal politics for many years, serving as Reeve of West Garafraxa and was Warden of Wellington County in 1993. He was a member of Two Rivers Masonic Lodge in Fergus which kept him very busy practicing his craft. He traveled to many lodges across the province sharing fellowship with his Brethren. A Masonic Lodge service will be held on Thursday, February 12th, 2026 at 6:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home. Visitation will follow from 7:00pm – 9:00pm and continue on Friday, February 13th, 2026 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14th, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 325 St George St W, Fergus. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church or Groves Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted with the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home.
