WELLSTEAD, Mary

It is with deep love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Mary Theresa Wellstead, who peacefully passed on July 30th, 2026. Mom was a woman whose greatest joy came from her family, and whose legacy will continue to live on through the generations she nurtured and loved. She was also a dedicated educator who taught for 18 years for the Halton Catholic School Board. Teaching children was a passion of hers and even in her final months noted how much she missed teaching. Mom also was a devoted Catholic who spent many years in the RCIA, was president of the Catholic Women’s League, and was a regular lectern. Mom was a loving wife to Don for almost 50 years, and it brings us comfort to know they will be reunited. She is lovingly remembered by her children Calista (Dan) and Kent (Allyson), her grandchildren Trevor (Emily), Victoria (Dan), Riley, Ariana, and Macauley, her great-grandchildren Olivia, Adelaide, Roman, Raina and Holden, as well as her sister Gwen (Bill) and all her extended family members and many dear friends. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and in the example of a life lived with purpose, dignity, and love. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Joseph Parish in Fergus, Ontario on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11:00am. Following the Funeral Mass, internment will take place at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Cemetery. The family invites all relatives and friends to join them afterwards for a reception back at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. We ask for your prayers during this time. If you wish to donate a gift in Mom’s honour please consider the CNIB or Canadian Children’s Aid Society. Arrangements entrusted to Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. S., Fergus, ON, 519-843-3100. Visit www.grahamgiddyfh.com for Terry’s online memorial.
