Wellington North Cultural Roundtable celebrating 25 years with public art competition

KENILWORTH – It was 25 years ago, in 1999, when Mount Forest, Arthur and the townships of West Luther, Arthur, Peel and West Garafraxa amalgamated into Wellington North.

To celebrate the anniversary, Wellington North is inviting residents to submit their artistic ideas for the chance to win a prize and have their art publicly displayed.

Ideas or drafted prototypes must be submitted by April 12 to volunteer@wellington-north.com, however the artwork itself doesn’t have to be finished by then.

Concepts will be transferred onto a flat material suitable for mounting at three locations: Mount Forest and District Sports Complex, Kenilworth municipal office, and the Arthur and Area Community Centre.

Wellington North Cultural Roundtable members and township councillors will judge the pieces with winners receiving $1,000 each.

“Celebration in art form is a lasting statement of our community spirit,” said community development coordinator Mike Wilson.

“We welcome these expressions of how great it is to live in the Township of Wellington North.”
