Wellington North candidates will be at Mount Forest sportsplex on Oct. 8
MOUNT FOREST – Wellington North’s municipal candidates will be at the sportsplex here on Oct. 8, ready to speak with township voters.
The election will be held on Oct. 26, and there are 18 candidates in Wellington North.
The race for mayor will be between current councillor Steve McCabe and Kelly Dimick.
In Ward 1, Wayne Allen and Michelle McInnis will run against incumbent councillor Penny Renken.
In Ward 2 is Laura Aston, Adriana Cea and incumbent Sherry Burke.
In Ward 3, incumbent Lisa Hern will face off against Erin Kiers and James Craig.
A new face will fill the Ward 4 spot currently held by McCabe: the candidates are Alex Zantout, Serge Karwal and Troy Lawlor.
At the Meet the Candidates event, held by the Mount Forest and Arthur Chambers of Commerce, each candidate will have two minutes to introduce themselves, followed by an open meet-and-greet where voters can talk one on one with the candidates and ask them questions.
It will take place from 7 to 9pm at the Mount Forest Sports Complex (850 Princess St.).
“This is a neutral, non-partisan event designed to help residents get to know the candidates and make informed decisions at the polls,” officials state.
“Come with your questions. Meet the candidates. Have your voice heard,” officials invite. “Everyone is welcome!”
Ward 3 candidate Lisa Hern sits on the board of the Arthur Chamber of Commerce.
