Two Mount Forest businesses have received grants to upgrade their facades.

The Main Street stores, Mount Forest Chiropractic and Younique Scrapbook Store, received $2,500 and $1,452 respectively at the April 23 council meeting.

Mount Forest Chiropractic also received $1,500 under the accessibility grant program and $127 through the application fees and development charges grant program.

Mount Forest Chiropractic replaced the storefront, replaced the front doors, installed a concrete step entrance and new signage. It also installed automatic push buttons for increased accessibility.

Younique Scrapbook store has installed new signage and made other improvements to planters and an outdoor patio area.

Since 2012, the township has given out $132,000 in community improvement grants. The total dollar value of the improvements is almost $650,000.
