Wedding reception seeks noise exemption from Puslinch council

Puslinch councillors are ready to accept a noise bylaw exemption for a wedding reception – on the condition the neighbours are contacted by the hosts in advance of the event.

On May 4 councillors reviewed the application made by Carrie Sponga for a wedding reception to be held on July 16 at 4518 Wellington Road 35.

The timeframe of the exemption is from 4pm to 1am.

Councillor Susan Fielding had no objections to the exemption, but wanted to ensure the neighbours were aware of the event.

Deputy clerk Donna Tremblay noted that when the applicant came in, she was advised it would be a good thing to let the neighbours know … and that if there were any letters of support it would be a good thing to submit copies of those as well.

As of the May council meeting, no such letters were received.

CAO Karen Landry recommended approval be conditional upon notification to the neighbours. Fielding agreed with the recommendation.

Councillor Ken Roth quipped the best way out might be for the hosts to invite the neighbours over.
