WEBB, Nellie Myers

Nellie Myers Webb (nee Thompson), passed away after a brief illness at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, on December 3, 2018 with her family by her side. Predeceased by her husband Dr. Clifford W. Webb. Beloved mother of Marianne Webb (Douglas), Jane Giffen and Thomas Webb (Jennifer). Devoted grandmother of Michael Pierro (Sophia), Robin Pierro, Simon Giffen and Elizabeth Giffen; great grandmother of Anna Maria Pierro. Nellie was born in Sarnia, Ontario on January 17, 1926. She spent most of her childhood in Peru where her father was employed by Imperial Oil. She graduated from University of Western Ontario where she met her husband Clifford. Nellie lived her life with wit, humour and enthusiasm for her many interests including environmental and social issues, gardening and history. She loved her home and garden in Fergus, which was the focal point for many lively gatherings. She was a co-founder of the Elora Environmental Action Group and co-wrote Full Circle, an environmental column for five years in the Fergus Elora News Express. She spearheaded the creation of the very successful Fergus Seniors Centre, volunteered with Women in Crisis and enjoyed performing with the Elora Community Theatre. A memorial service will be held for Nellie at St. John’s Anglican Church, 33 Henderson St., Elora, Ontario on February 23, 2019 at 2:00pm. Reception to follow at the church. If desired, donations can be made to an environmental organization or Dying with Dignity.
