Water tower cake post leads to opening invite

MAPLETON - Funding and building a water tower is no piece of cake, but a local family has made it look like one.

A local youngster has received an official invitation to the opening ceremony for the new Mapleton water tower after township officials learned of his interest in the project through a social media post.

“Excited to see the next phases of the water tower being built. My son is obsessed…this was for his 3rd birthday,” Alicia MacDermott posted in the Mapleton What’s Happening Facebook group, along with a photo of tower-shaped cake.

“We are excited too,” responded Mayor Gregg Davidson.

“We are ahead of schedule and this tower should be ready in late August or September. Trey (and you) are invited as my guest to the opening.”
