Volunteers stock the Grand River with 16,000 brown trout
Fish stocking - On May 2, volunteers from Friends of the Grand River worked alongside a team from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) to stock the Grand River near Elora with 16,000 brown trout. Volunteers transferred the young fish from the MNR truck into aerated live wells in canoes. Paddlers moved to different parts of the river before introducing the fish to their new home. Cool temperatures and rain made the job challenging, but the fish loved it. Photos by Duncan Hossack
