Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at Groves Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 20, 2026 in her 83rd year. She leaves behind more than memories; her feisty nature, her stubborn will, and that infectious smile that could both charm you and keep you on your toes. Beloved wife of the late Allan Van Ankum (2001). Loving mother of Anita and Danny Medeiros of Erin, Jeff and Dawn Michelle “Mickie” Van Ankum of Stayner and Corey and Jill Schaefer of London. Loved grandmother of Malcolm and Ben Medeiros; Noah and Ava Van Ankum; Justin, Mathew and Cooper Schaefer. Dear sister of Phil and Carol Miller of Listowel. Fondly remembered by her brothers in law and sisters in law Sonya Van Ankum of Alberta, Arnold and Jayne Van Ankum of Drayton and Jake and Marlene Van Ankum of Fergus. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents Guy and Mary (Schieck) Miller, three brothers Roy, John and George Miller and two sisters in law and brothers-in-law Jean Van Ankum, George and Alice Van Ankum, John Van Ankum, Hilbert and Janneke Van Ankum. To honour Mildred’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Drayton Reformed Church on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. A memorial service of remembrance will be held in the Drayton Reformed Church on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11:00am. As expressions of sympathy donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association or Kids Help Phone would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the tremendous care that she received at Groves Memorial in Fergus. A special thank you goes out to Dr Muldoon for her grace in helping mom pass with dignity and peace. Arrangements entrusted to the Heritage Funeral Home, Drayton.
