Updated SSMP costs stand at $542,594

Erin’s Servicing and Settlement Master Plan (SSMP) costs could surpass the half million dollar mark by 2014.

In a recent update to local councillors, finance director Sharon Marshall said the estimated net costs from 2006 to 2014 will be $542,594.

Marshall said she’d generated the figures because of questions from the public in regard to current and estimated costs for the project – phases one and two. The second part of her report related to payments to BM Ross and Associates for work done on the project.

Marshall explained that in April, the company had submitted an invoice for almost $35,000 (including the HST).

“At the time, it came to light that some of the terms of reference had not been met.”

Since then, the town has been working with Dale Murray and BM Ross to resolve those issues. “In light of the fact that BM Ross has committed to completing the work as set out in the terms of reference, and they have done the work the town was invoiced for … I am recommending we do release payment for that invoice from April.”

Marshall added the town is still holding back $16,000 from the original contract, and she recommended to continue holding that amount back.

But as a show of good faith, she recommended payment of the invoice. Council agreed to pay the invoice.
