Two Wheel Motorsport moving to more spacious site after 33 years in business

Two Wheel Motorsport is almost tripling its square footage in its move north on Highway 6.

Currently, the store is located at 5473 Highway 6 north, beside the Pioneer gas station and has about 13,000 square feet of space.

Come May 6, when the new building officially opens at 5624 Highway 6 north at the intersection with Wellington Road 7, the square footage on the new site will be about 37,000 (26,000 in the site’s main building).

Owner Ron Ashley said Two Wheel Motorsport had actually outgrown its southern location 15 years ago but its wasn’t until this location became available the move became possible.

“We bought the property six years ago on a handshake,” he said.

“[We] decided to go big or go home.”

With 33 years of business under the company’s belt this is its first ever move.

Two Wheel Motorsport sells trucks, new and used ATVs, new and used motorcycles, used RVs, new and used snowmobiles, Segways, new and used trailers and generators.

Construction began in the fall of last year and now the building is ready to open.

The main floor of the showroom will be dedicated to new vehicles and the upper level will be dedicated exclusively to used vehicles.

At the current site, Ashley said he has used vehicles located all over the facility wherever space permits. In the new facility all like vehicles will be located together.

Trucks will remain outside and will be displayed along the parking lot perimeter.

“We have nine new manufacturers that we’re hoping to expand on even more; so of those nine manufacturers we don’t have enough room at our current location to assemble and display their product,” he explained.

The larger facility is also allowing the company to accommodate nine mechanics with their own stations whereas the current facility can only accommodate six.

There is also a service entrance at the back of the building for those who are having maintenance work done on their vehicle and do not want to walk through the showroom.

Ashley said he also wanted the facility to be accessible to all of his clientele.

There is an entrance off of Highway 6 north as well as off of Wellington Road 7.

“I’m worried about all the people that (haven’t) come down Highway 6 in the last eight months in our prime target (area) so Centre Wellington, Wellington County more than anything,” he explained.

“I would almost say that Stone Road Mall Guelph and north … and a bit of Kitchener is our biggest target market.”

Two Wheel Motorsport will close its doors at the current location on May 2 and will reopen at the new location on May 6.

The company is holding off on a grand opening until the parking lot is fully paved.
