Turkey Bingo at Palmerston Legion will support national broomball championships

PALMERSTON – Bingo at the Palmerston Legion next month will raise money for the 2027 U20 Canadian National Broomball Championships with a Turkey Bingo night.

It’s called Turkey Bingo because turkeys are among the prizes – “just in time for Thanksgiving,” organizers state.

The fundraiser will take place on Oct. 2, upstairs at the Palmerston Legion (260 Daly St.).

“The Legion has been very gracious to allow us use of their hall to raise money for this week long tournament that will bring approximately 400 U20 broomball players from across Canada for the national title” tournament sponsorship chair  Kim Moroz told the Community News

The the 2027 U20 Canadian National Broomball Championships will take place from March 31 to April 3 in Elmira.

“The committee needs to raise $70,000 to host [the championships] and we are halfway there,” Moroz said.

She said they’ve done bingo fundraisers before, “and decided it would be fun to do turkey bingo ahead of Thanksgiving.”

Doors will open at 6:45pm, and bingo runs from 7:30 to 9:30.

It costs $20 for two cards and there are two bonanza specials.

Prizes include six turkeys and gift cards from local merchants, U20 Nationals chair Jason Wilhelm said.

“Bring your friends and family and enjoy a night of bingo,” officials state.
