Trish Palmer named Minto’s Senior of the Year
Mayor: Palmer 'brings people together, lifts others up, inspires those around her to give back'
MINTO – Trish Palmer has been named Minto’s 2026 Senior of the Year.
At Minto council’s June 16 meeting, Mayor Dave Turton announced during a delegation that it was his “honour to recognize a truly exceptional member of the Town of Minto.”
He said Palmer has “given countless hours in service to others – whether through Meals on Wheels, driving friends and neighbours to medical appointments, supporting youth as a Scout leader, membership coordinator for the Clifford and District Horticultural Society, or her many contributions to organizations across our community.”
Turton added the award winner has also been a driving force behind the Clifford Rotary Club, and continuously steps up when there is need in the community, and never asks for recognition in return.
“Trish is someone people can always count on … she brings people together, lifts others up and inspires those around her to give back,” the mayor said.
“Not all angels have wings, and tonight we recognize one of ours.”
Palmer thanked Mayor Turton and members of council for selecting her as Senior of the Year.
“It is truly an honour,” she said.
“When we moved here 15 years ago, we said we were going to get involved with the community, and yes, I think we have … but the work that I do in the community wouldn’t mean much if I didn’t have the help of many, many volunteers.”
Palmer noted that whether she’s leading a project or is just another member of the pack, getting involved in the community has been “very rewarding.”
She added she is glad to have moved to the Town of Minto, stating “it’s a wonderful community to be part of.”
