Treasure Shop event taking place Jan. 25

FERGUS – A used clothing event is set to take place later this month at a local church.

On Jan. 25 Sarah Albano and a group of volunteers from Grace Christian Fellowship will be running the Treasure Shop at the church, located at 35 Farley Rd. in Fergus.

Albano collects used clothing and household item donations and gives them away during the Treasure Shop, which has occurred for 20 years.

“Anyone can attend this event,” she said. “That’s what we love about it.  It’s the fun of looking for a treasure.”

The event runs from 9am to noon on Jan. 25. However, Albano said people begin lining up at 8:30am.

“If you come around 10am there may be lots left … but it’s been gone through,” she said.

In the past, Albano said about 50 to 60 families attend the event and there are usually 80 to 100 bags of clothing set out. At the end of the day there are usually less than 15 bags left.

“We want to show love to our community, recycle,” she said. “We care about families.”

The Treasure Shop will also occur on May 5 and Sept. 12 this year.
