TOWRISS, Gwendolyn Joyce (Wendy)

Gwendolyn Joyce Towriss (Wendy), age 77, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle on April 2, 2026, at Hamilton General Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on Feb. 18, 1949, in Fergus ON, Gwen was the daughter of the late Norma and Louis Pilbeam of Salem, Ontario. Gwen is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 54 years Gord Towriss, her son, Greg Towriss (Alison), her late son Kevin Towriss (2014); and her cherished grandchildren, Owen, Nathan, Ava, Rozlyn & Kaelan. Gwen is also survived by her loving sister, Patsy Saunders and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members that were so special and loved by her. Gwen was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She gave wholeheartedly to those she loved and found her greatest joy in being surrounded by them along with all the friendships she cultivated throughout her beautiful journey. Gwen had a deep connection to her community and remained rooted in the Salem, Elora and Fergus area throughout her life. Together, Gwen and Gord built a beautiful life, raising their family and watching it grow into something that reflected their love, care and values. Gwen’s love was felt by everyone who was fortunate enough to get to walk her path with her. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275, at 500 Blair Street, Fergus, Ontario on Sunday, May 10, 2026, visitation from 12:00pm - 2:00pm, with a memorial service beginning at 2:00pm. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Mark Preece House or to the Aboyne Rural Hospice in memory of Gwen. Gwen will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all that knew and loved her. Until we meet again where life goes on forever.
