Township seeking input on development charge background study

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The township is updating  its Development Charges Background Study and Bylaw and is seeking community input.

Development charges are fees collected from builders and developers to help pay for the cost of infrastructure required due to growth, such as roads, water, wastewater, parks, recreation and fire services.

Municipalities are required to do this update at least every five years.  The township is completing this update early due to the recent completion of various township master plans, including:

– Fire Master Plan;

– Transportation Master Plan;

– Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan; and

– Water Supply Master Plan.

The draft Development Charges Background Study is available at www.centrewellington.ca/developmentcharges.

The background study will be discussed:

– Feb. 2 at 10am – proposed Zoom meeting with interested builders and developers to discuss the study;

– Feb. 18 at 2pm – required development charges public meeting on Zoom; and

– March 29 at 1pm – proposed development charges bylaw passage at the Zoom council meeting.
