Township preparing master plan for sewage servicing in Arthur and Mount Forest

Public Works Manager Gary Williamson recently told council of the master plan work for sewage servicing in Mount Forest and Arthur.

He said work started last year with Triton Engineering’s work on servicing in Arthur.

He added one plan was completed in Mount Forest recently, but as a result of more recent work on the system (including the new sewage treatment plant and pumping stations, he believes it is time to upgrade it.

He said meeting is planned with engineers B.M. Ross & Associates regarding the Mount Forest plan while Triton continues work on the Arthur project.

“They set out what is believed to be your servicing needs for the next 10 to 50 years.”

The plans are based on projected growth and where that growth may take place, taking water and sewage capacity into place.

“It’s a very important document for the two urban centres,” Williamson said. He said that information is a basis to form a long range capital plan in regards to infrastructure.

Williamson informed the committee that Triton and B.M. Ross are gathering information for the respective Arthur and Mount Forest master plans.

The sanitary sewer flow monitoring currently being done in Arthur will cost $1,100 more than expected but should still be within budget.
