Centre Wellington council agreed on Monday to approve two purchases retroactively that provided upgrades at the Sportsplex in Fergus.

The first is an HVAC system for the community hall in Fergus as an emergency purchase, at a cost of $27,000.

Council also agreed to buy a condenser unit as a replacement for the one at ice pad A of the Sportsplex for $35,000.

Recreation Director Andy Goldie explained that both purchases were replacements of equipment that was part of the original building from the 1980s and in much need of repair and replacement.
