Time to vote again

The federal ridings of Perth-Wellington and Wellington-Halton Hills are ready to cast ballots next Tuesday, and we encourage readers to get out and vote.

The incumbents, Gary Schellenberger and Mike Chong, both Conservative candidates, have worked diligently since their last election to serve different ends of Wellington County.  Voters have the opportunity now to confirm those choices or head in different directions this time.

Regardless of the outcome on election day, both men, along with the numerous candidates who had the fortitude to run for office this time, deserve great thanks for offering their names for public service. The burden of serving the public is a very fine balancing act between doing what needs done to move the country ahead, without doing so much that the electorate becomes upset at too much change.

Little is asked of Canadian citizens besides a vote at election time. We see little reason to miss voting on Tuesday. Advanced polls last weekend made it that much more convenient.

Now it is the voters’ tasks to make a choice of the candidate that best reflects their personal values and hopes for the country.

Please vote.
