HARRISTON - The Grey-Wellington Theatre Guild (GWTG) is staging a musical version of the popular Anne of Green Gables story this fall.

Anne of Green Gables – The Musical will bring to life Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved tale of the precocious and imaginative Anne Shirley as she captures the hearts and minds of her newfound family and neighbors in the small Prince Edward Island farming community of Avonlea.

“We wanted to put on a spectacular show to close out our 50th anniversary year and what better way to do it than with a production of the classic Canadian story of Anne of Green Gables,” said GWTG president Peggy Raftis, who is directing the show.

“We have an extremely talented cast. This is a show you should not miss,” she added.

The large cast includes 32 performers from throughout the local region, including Tyler Wood of Listowel as Anne, Blair Cowan of Harriston as Gilbert, Flora Burke of Mount Forest as Marilla and Roslyn Fortier of Kenilworth as Rachel Lynde.

Under the musical direction of Mary Lynn Woods, the show will feature live music highlighting favorites numbers such as Ice Cream and If You Hear.

Anne of Green Gables – The Musical, is set to run November 22, 28, 29, 30 and Dec. 5, 6, 7 at 7:30pm; Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 24 and Dec. 1 at 2 p.m, November 25, 26, 27 and Dec 2, 3, 4. The show will be staged at the fully-accessible Harriston Town Hall Theatre, located at 68 Elora Street South in Harriston.
