FERGUS – After having to cancel so many things last year, the Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora is ready to relaunch its cheese gift bag fundraiser.

For $40, you get the bag, four kinds of Balderson cheese (280g packages), two boxes of crackers, and a jar of hot red pepper jelly.

The regular retail price of these items is $46 to $50, said Jim Gibbons, director of the program, “so it’s a real bargain.”

The fundraiser typically raises $15,000 for the club, which then allocates the funds to local community groups, like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, Kids Ability, the local food bank and the Community Resource Centre.

The Fergus Zehrs store has been instrumental in getting the products and club members have put together 1,200 bags, Gibbons said.

“This is tremendous value,” added club president Rob Galloway. “The cheese is the big draw.”

Gibbons said many businesses buy several to give as gifts to clients and staff.

“And to receive one – what a wonderful gift,” Galloway said.

Orders can be placed by calling John Wheatley at 519-843-5299 or Jim Gibbons at 519-843-3664.

Instructions on how to pay and where to pick up will be provided at that time.
