It was a perfect day for a walk along the Elora-Cataract Trail in Fergus in support of the Terry Fox Run on Sept. 18 at Forfar Park.

Event organizer Chris Mulligan said things were going well in preparation for the event.

Last year, the group raised a record of over $10,150.

Mulligan said with the inclusion of funds raised by local schools, the total jumped to over $17,000.

This is the 15th year that Fergus has held the run.

“We’re looking forward to a record turnout this year,” Mulligan said.

Two years ago he began organizing the run as a member of the Chung Oh School of Tae Kwon Moo Do. He explained one of the mandates of the group includes community service.

This year, Dorothy Smith, who had operated the run for the past 12 years, was unable to do it. As a result, Mulligan took the reins as organizer.

Family members were there with Mulligan to take part in the day’s activities as well.
