Strong community support helps bring Thorning’s history of Elora closer to reality

ELORA – The late Stephen Thorning’s book, The Model Village and the Struggle for Success: A History of Elora, Ontario, is getting closer to a release.

Wellington County Historical Society officials say the book “touches on many aspects of village life while offering a detailed account of the political machinations and industrial aspirations that shaped Elora during its first century of existence.”

With 24 illustrated chapters, it will be a large book, and historical society officials say they’re grateful for wide public support to help bring it to press.

The society has announced design work is now underway, with more announcements expected this fall.
