As ghouls and goblins gathered throughout the village for Monster Month, residents along Mill Street had the chance for a bit of science along with their spooks.
As part of Elora’s Frightfest on Oct. 19 and 20, Let’s Talk Science offered a hands-on approach with experiments to try.
University of Guelph’s Let’s Talk Science coordinator Ann Vandergust explained Let’s Talk Science is a national charitable program.
“We have programs running at 40 different sites across Canada at different universities and colleges.”
Though Vandergust is with the University of Guelph, the Elora event was run in conjunction with the program through the University of Waterloo – allowing students from both locations to take part.
“Basically we send graduate or undergraduate students into classrooms to run hands-on activities for kids.”
This could involve community events, libraries or classes from kindergarten to Grade 12.
“It’s totally free for anyone who participates,” she added.
