SPEERS, Florence Margaret (nee Hardy)

Florence passed away at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus on May 25, 2021 at the age of 101 years – just one week short of her 102nd Birthday. Florence was born in Winterbourne, Ontario and will be missed by her son Bob (Sandy), Grandchildren Mike and Bonnie (Nick) and Great-Grandchildren Charlette, Sadie and Amelia. Predeceased by her husband Bill, son Garry and her four, younger sisters Jean, Marion, Mildred and Dorthy. At the age of 15, Florence raised her baby sister Dorthy after the illness and death of her Mother, Minnie Beattie. Florence always conducted herself in a humorous, generous and kind manner. She was known for her cooking and baking skills and hosting large family and neighbourhood parties. Florence loved to dance and was an accomplished oil painting artist. Florence moved to a Condo in Fergus in 1988 after the death of her husband Bill, with many other old friends around town. The Condo residents created a close community spirit that is still felt there today. Florence lived on her own till she went into the Hospital. We wish to extend a special thank you to the Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Groves Hospital for the compassionate care she received. Following a Private Family Service at Graham Giddy Funeral Home, Florence will be resting in the Fergus Cemetery. Any Donations could be made to the Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus.
