Of Arthur passed away peacefully at the Caressant Care Nursing Home, Arthur on Thursday, April 2, 2026 in his 95th year. Beloved wife of Marjorie for 70 years. Dear father of Joanne Coffey of Arthur, Gordon and Gillian Smellie of Mildmay, Lorraine Abate and the late Joe Abate (2024) of Arthur and the late Jamie Smellie (1978). Grandfather of Heather and Dan Parkinson, Amanda Coffey, Steven Coffey, Amy Smellie and Mike Dubien, Adam Smellie, Katy Ransom, Debbie Shortreed and Josh Sega, Cassandra Abate, Danielle Abate, Allison Abate, Nico Abate and Chelsea Larsson, Sydney Abate and Gavin Morrison, Jackie and Brandon Wolfe. Great grandfather of Malcolm, Violet, Henry, Kaia, Cash, Piper, Owen, Henry, Jaxon and Jacy. Brother of Muriel Morrison and brother-in-law of Glenn and Joanne McKinnon. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends.    Predeceased by his parents Allison and Ida Smellie, siblings Annie Smellie infancy and Helen Smellie, great grandson Joel Slofstra and brother-in-law Art Morrison. To honour Willliams wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Crawford Chapel, 243 George Street, Arthur on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 6 to 8pm. The Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held in the Arthur United Church on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:00am. Spring interment in McKee Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donation to Arthur United Church, the Arthur Optimist Club or the Prince Arthur Masonic Lodge 334. The Prince Arthur Masonic Lodge 334 will conduct a Masonic service in the funeral home on Thursday at 5:15pm.
