SIMPSON, Terry Alan
October 4, 1966 – October 10, 2026
It is with the heaviest of hearts we say goodbye to our beloved husband, dad, son, and brother. He was the oldest son of Marg Rooney & stepdad Bill, brother to Gail (Janet) and Lloyd. Predeceased by his father, Harry (1989). Terry loved to make people laugh, and his wonderful smile was contagious. He was an incredibly patient and understanding partner to June for two days short of their 35th wedding anniversary. He never batted an eye after coming home from work at 2:00am to find a strange dog in the house that June had brought home to foster. Thankfully, he too loved their pets and nature as much as she did. He enjoyed woodworking and was very good at repairs around the home. Creating items for the people he loved brought him great joy. He was surprisingly supportive when June would come to him with one of her many project ideas. Whenever she said, “So I was thinking…,” he knew he was going to be busy. Terry was very proud of his daughter, Alana, and loved to make things for her. After several years, families still walk by their home in Arthur and point out the wooden dragon in their front yard. His creativity lives on in Alana, and there is evidence of his handiwork everywhere around their home. Growing up in Belwood, he was blessed to be surrounded by an amazing family and community. He valued sportsmanship and being a great team player, and was recognized for this with various awards. For many years, he and June competed in flyball and performed at local fairs with their dogs. The memories and friends he made during those times were some of his most cherished. Terry was a proud member of the Arthur Lions Club and enjoyed being part of an organization that did so much for his local community. Organ donation was very important to Terry and his family. It would have made him happy to know he was able to help so many people. Donations in Terry’s memory can be made to Sparrow’s Nest at the Elora Centre for the Arts. It has been a life-changing place for Alana and is wonderfully supportive of children and adults of varying abilities. On the donation page, there is a drop-down menu that allows you to select “Sparrow’s Nest,” ensuring your gift is directed specifically to support the programs offered through the Nest: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/elora-centre-for-the-arts/
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. GO STEELERS!!! To view Terry’s memorial page and leave online condolences, please visit www.grahamgiddyfh.com.
